TGIF

Today I really need to crack on and get some tops of foxgloves made. I don't want to start on the flowers while I am on a roll with the little buds so you'll have to bear with me.

in the meantime, for all you witchy and wizard people, I'll leave you with this photograph of a 12th scale wizard. He was made by Viola Williams and she wanted a staff for him. She was after something that looked like a tree branch that lit up.

Through the wonders of the internet and dollhouse groups, it ended up on our doorstep.

I made the staff and the mad scientist made it light up. It is a shame you can't see it in the photo but if flickers just like a real flame.

It was a different and fun project to do and as it turns out, Viola doesn't live too far from us so we got to meet her and her hubby which was lovely .....as was the lunch she made us :-)

  1. Jayne, my comment is irrelevant to your post, but when I found this today, I was shocked at how much it sounds like you!

    What does "Jayne" mean?

You are fair, honest, and logical. You are a natural leader, and people respect you. You never give up, and you will succeed... even if it takes you a hundred tries. You are rational enough to see every part of a problem.

You are great at giving other people advice. You are usually the best at everything ... you strive for perfection. You are confident, authoritative, and aggressive. You have the classic "Type A" personality. You are a free spirit, and you resent anyone who tries to fence you in. You are unpredictable, adventurous, and always a little surprising. You may miss out by not settling down, but you're too busy having fun to care.

  2. Oh my Brenda…..that is just too weird. It shocked me as well.

For those who don’t know me well, that IS me...very single thing. If I didn’t know you better Brenda, I’d swear you just made that up to include all of that. There is not one thing in that lot that isn’t me.

And not just with my flower making, before I started this, in my ‘real’ career I was just the same. Had to do it best, had to do what no one else had done, had to win the contracts no one else could.

No, I never managed to really settle down, have 2.5 kids and a mortgage but well...adventure…that’s what life is all about. And yes I am too busy having fun to care.

I wonder what Michael means....and if it is similar lol :-)

    Thanks for posting that...fascinating.

  6. After some googling, this is the website I found with "blogthings"- for hidden meaning in names amongst other thingamaloos- http://www.blogthings.com/whatsyournameshiddenmeaningquiz/. By the way Jayne, that staff rocks! And it lights up too, my goodness.Your husband? With wires?

One fine day, if you feel like making something in your sleep, can you show us how you make birds of paradise? I love that plant. We have giant ones for sale in Singapore and I use them a lot for my table settings (very good for drama). Thanks!

  8. Hi Jayne. Love the Wizard Staff. Its just wonderful!
Lovely also to see the rest of your work space. Close inspection was had by me and loved peeping through see through boxes and finding my way round.
My sons and husband laughed that we all like looking where each other works. They just don't understand how fab it is to see. They also laughed at me wanting to get my room sorted so i can do the same.
Mind you they take pictures of fish and i just don't get that. Why on earth would you want a picture of fish. They don't half pen and ink (stink).
Looking forward to the foxgloves next stage.
    Nikki
