Oh I've got a loverly bunch of coconuts....

There they are a-standin' in a row.
Big ones, small ones, some as big as yer 'ead!

OK....maybe I don't but 'I've got a lovely bunch of foxglove parts' just doesn't sound right....besides.... I've had this song in my head all morning so thought I'd pass it on - like to do my bit for the community and all that :-)

I spent all of yesterday making parts....uggh ! I actually hate to work like that but sometimes it just has to be done.

So now I have a slew of flowers, leaves and prepared bits of wire. I am not quite ready to start assembling yet.

These cone shaped things will become the flowers.
These still need to be checked over for any bits of glue, have another coat of paint, be bashed up some, dotted and spotted in the centers, ends opened up and bashed some more.

The wires have all been cut to length, the ends curled over and then dipped in ZapAGap. This will make sure that the flowers won't fall off the wires.

And here is where I am up to so far on the main stems....still a ways to go yet but once all the bits are finished it will be quicker. The flowers stick out at funny angles because I haven't bent them down yet. I wait until the glue is totally dry before changing their shape.

Sorry the pics are so poor...I dunno what has happened to the sunshine. I was out walking at 6am and it was gorgeous but it is clouded over now :-(

Ignore the other bits of flowers you can see...they are rejects or bits I am playing with.

And there you have it.....doesn't actually look like much given it took so long :-(

  1. Jayne,

I had to click each picture so I could see in detail. You are an amazing artist! I don't think I would ever have the patience to finish even one foxglove- they are each little works of art! Great work!!

  4. Thanks Cathy.

I only have the patience with these as I am making them for Nikki...were I making them for myself I'd have given up a looong time ago.

I like to be challenged but when it is by yourself it is too easy to give up :-)

For my next trick I'll make something far simpler.

  6. Hi Jayne. They are so, so, so, so perfect and so in love with them. Lord only knows how much time you have put into these beauties and how much patience is involved.
So sorry i have taken my time today to leave this comment but i was busy editing pictures earlier and then food shopping. I'm still not finished all my daily dull chores but just had to come and say thank you for doing these for me. I dont think anyone could ever know how much i love foxgloves and only wish they came in bouquets of flowers for mothers days and occassions like that. Mind you, in miniature they will last forever and be true treasures.
Thanks once again jane and look forward to your next photos.
    Nikki x

  8. Rosanna....thanks, zap a gap is a superglue but it is thicker...and it doesn't dry out so quickly which is why I prefer it.

Nikki....thank you....so pleased you are loving them....you are the one that really counts :-)

Dull chores huh...yuk....hope you are all done now.

Sans...oh no...far from finished :-) They still look like paper...have to do something about that yet.
